So, apparently my dad got a really bad virus from downloading a piece of art off of DA. so i'm asking everyone to be really careful if you are trying to download anything. please watch yourself. if something pops up that says, "ms antispyware 2009 virus scan" or something like that, shut your computer down immediately.

Man I wish I'd seen that a day ago...the computer at my dad's buisness has crashed, and we had to wipe everything clean on it to stop the spread of the virus. It's a bad one.

Oh geeze. There's getting to be no safe place on the web anymore. Heck, google makes my computer cranky with pop-ups sometimes. *sigh*

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll keep and eye out.

I've actually seen this same virus pop up from several different sites. Basically a window will pop up saying that you computer has been infected with viruses and that you should download this anti-virus program. Problem is that the anti-virus program actually IS a virus. Basically, when this pops up just press the 'X' button to close the window and turn off your computer. Do NOT click OK!!

Sometimes the program will open up another window that actually looks like an anti-virus program and lists thousands of 'viruses' it has detected on your computer. Don't trust it. Again just use the 'X' button to close it and turn off your computer.

I've had personal experience with this thing. It attacked my laptop and actually got on somehow. It even set my screensaver to what appeared to be a blue screen (sneaky little thing). Just remember to close the initial window and restart the computer and you should be fine.

Nasty business. If I could remember what I used to get it off I would post it. I'm pretty sure I just Googled the name of the virus and ended up with a program made specifically to get it off.

I do hope your Dad get's it working properly. ^_^

Hey, my computer got that one this summer! (not from DevArt though)

Just do a system restore to a time before you got the virus. and afterwards go to trend micro's site and do Housecall. It'll clean up your computer.
